Diphu Municipal Board wins fast-moving city award

Diphu, Oct. 5 (EMN): The Diphu Municipal Board (DMB) has been awarded Swachh City Award-2022 for achieving the tag of fast-moving city in the Northeast zone population category between 5, 00,000 to 10,00,000 from the Ministry of Housing and Urban Affairs at Talkatora Stadium, New Delhi on October 1.
The award was handed over by the President of India, Droupadi Murmu; Union Minister for Housing and Urban Affairs, Hardeep Sing Puri and Minister of State for Housing and Urban Affairs, Kaushal Kishore.
The award was received by the DMC team led by Chairman Rah Kro; DMC executive engineer, Nippun Charan Dutta; Pradip Rongpi assistant executive engineer; and Ward Commissioner Sagar Chetry.
The award includes a certificate and a replica of Mahatma Gandhi. The DMC has received the award for the last three years — 2019, 2021, and 2022. A cash award of INR 5 lakh was also awarded from the department of Housing and Urban, Assam government.
DMC Chairman Rah Kro said the award was received based on cleanliness.
“We received the award through the support, dedication, and efforts of Karbi Anglong Autonomous Council, Chief Executive Member (CEM), Tuliram Ronghang. He has constructed roads inside Diphu town and initiated Diphu river cleaning drives,” he said.
