The Combat Academy wins medals at national championship
Dimapur, Oct. 4 (EMN): The Combat Academy (TCA) from Nagaland won 3 gold and 3 bronze medals at the recently concluded AIMMAA (All India Mixed Martial Arts Association) National Championship held at Saroornagar Indoor Stadium in Hyderabad from Sep. 30 to Oct. 2nd.
The tournament was held in collaboration with MFN (Matrix Fight Night) the biggest professional MMA promotion in India, an update informed.
Altogether eight athletes from TCA participated at the event including Sarita Rathod from Mumbai and Veinü Suffix from Manipur, both of whom secured gold in their respective weight classes. Mairidin Newmai also scored a gold for TCA, while Limasunep Imchen, Ketholetuo Nagi and Angel Debbarma from Tripura secured bronze medals.
Atokivi Chishi along with Angel Debbarma pulled out of the tournament in the semifinal due to injuries, while Mhao Odyuo lost in his second bout.
Suffix was adjudged the best fighter, while TCA was declared the best team overall.
Altogether, 420 athletes from different teams from all across India participated in the event.
