BJP unit commemorates Gandhi Jayanti in Diphu

Diphu, Oct. 02 (EMN): Along with the rest of the country, the BJP of East Karbi Anglong District Committee (EKADC) commemorated 153rd Gandhi Jayanti by organising various programmes.
In the morning under the directive of EKADC, all BJP mandals undertook cleanliness drives under Swachhta Abhiyan.
In Diphu, the cleanliness drive was held at BJP-EKADC office near ARTC first gate. This was followed by the celebration of Gandhi Jayanti at Atal Bihari Vajpee Bhawan at BJP-EKADC office.
The celebration was attended by president, BJP-EKADC, Dhansing Teron, CEM of Karbi Anglong Autonomous Council, Tuliram Ronghang, Member of Parliament, P Horensing Bey, MLAs Bidyasing Engleng and Dorsing Ronghang and other elected members of KAAC and party members.
Office secretary, BJP-EKADC, Amit Kemprai, informed that a ‘Vocal for local’ programme was also taken up, where local entrepreneurs were invited and felicitated. Handloom products, craft items, and food processing items produced by local entrepreneurs were put on display and sale to encourage the entrepreneurs.
Ronghang also visited Handloom Weaving Centre, an enterprise set up by Rijak Dera, where women folk from West Karbi Anglong and Karbi Anglong districts were engaged.
The CEM on his Facebook post wrote “It’s a laudable venture; I encourage more weavers to produce more to meet the growing demands.”
