Imphal, Sep. 22 (EMN): In a move to boost connectivity with neighbouring South Asian countries acknowledging the state’s importance in the Act East policy, the Manipur government is working on introducing Imphal-Bangkok flight connectivity at least once a week.

Sharing the information about the meeting with Thai Business delegation in a tweet on Thursday, Chief Minister N Biren Singh wrote: “As the implementation of Act East Policy gains momentum, ideas were exchanged for strengthening cooperation in IT sector, Tourism, and Medical Tourism in Manipur. The State Government is already working on introducing Imphal-Bangkok flight connectivity at least once a week.”

Biren Singh had a meeting with Thai Business delegation led by Thailand Ambassador to India Ms Pattrat Hongtong at his official secretariat in Imphal on Thursday.

In another tweet, Biren wrote: “It was a pleasure to have the Thai Business delegation led by Hon’ble Ambassador of @ThailandinIndia, H.E Ms. Pattrat Hongtong at my secretariat today. In presence of Govt. officials and representatives of @FollowCII, we had a productive discussion on a range of issues.”

During the meeting, Biren Singh invited the delegation to attend the upcoming Sangai Festival 2022 — an annual tourism festival of the state — which is usually held for 10 days during the last week of November.
