Dimapur, Sep. 22 (EMN): The Sumi Community of Old Ministers’ Hill Kohima (SCOMHK) held a fellowship on September 20 at Old Ministers Hill Fellowship (SBCK) with Dr. Kiheto Shohe, associate pastor of Sumi Aphuyemi Baptist Church (SABAK), as the speaker.
In his opening remarks, the chairman of SCOMHK, Obed Kinimi, disclosed that there are 84 households and about 416 members of Sumi community living at Old Ministers Hill Kohima. Kinimi has stressed upon the importance to preserve the culture and identity of Sumi tribe.
Kinimi has encouraged promoting Sumi language within family and community to preserve and protect the uniqueness of Sumi identity. He further disclosed that Sumi community of Old Ministers Hill has collected cash amounting to INR 87,330 on one day wages basis and contributed towards the construction of Kohima Sumi Cemetery.
James Wokhami Swu, first chairman of SCOMHK, appealed to the Sumi community of Old Ministers Hill to co-operate with the office bearers and work together for the welfare of the community. He also encouraged them to continue the fellowship programmes more often to strengthen and maintain good relation among the Sumi community.
Dr. Kiheto Shohe has shared Biblical message basing on Mark 10:45. Shohe further urged the gathering to have reconciliation with God starting from the family and community.
Lujeka Assumi, associate pastor of SBCK Fellowship, offered prayer for Sumi community.
It mentioned that a new office bearers of Sumi Community of Old Ministers’ Hill Kohima for the tenure 2022-25 was installed on July 16 led by Obed Kinimi as chairman and Vitoka Aye as general secretary along with H Bohoto Zhimomi as banker.
