Chümoukedima bodies to check illegal activities

Dimapur, Sep. 21 (EMN): The Chümoukedima Village Council, Chümoukedima ‘A’ Village and Chümoukedima Town Angami Mechü Krotho, have collectively resolved to check illicit liquor and psychotropic drug businesses within the Chümoukedima jurisdiction

The three organizations, in a public information, stated that despite warnings and prohibitory notifications issued in the past, anti-social elements continued to indulge in illicit liquor and drug business.

Keeping in mind the well-being and safety of the inhabitants, the three organisations have resolved to enforce guidelines and strictures for strict compliance.

It has directed individuals or parties involved in such illegal business to cease their activities/ vacate their business establishments before October 1 saying, “No further warning shall be issued after the given time and strict action will be initiated as resolved.”

It informed that youth and women bodies, in collaboration with administration and police, would conduct checking from time to time to curb the illegal activities and warned that both customary and legal actions would be initiated against the culprits involved.

“Any residents/tenants if found selling illegal liquors and banned drugs shall be expelled from the jurisdiction without warning and legal action shall be initiated against the culprits involved,” it cautioned.

Further, if any licensed shop or business establishment is found selling illegal liquor or banned drugs, then their trade permits will be immediately cancelled and the culprit be expelled from the respective jurisdiction without warning.

“The defaulter shall be given five days only to vacate the establishment. Legal actions shall be initiated against the culprits, it stated.”
