Mokokchung/ Dimapur, Sep. 11 (EMN): Mokokchung unit of the All Nagaland Private Schools Association (ANPSA) organised a district-level literary competitions including quiz and extempore speech at Model Higher Secondary School in Mokokchung town on September 9.

In her welcome address, president of ANPSA Mokokchung, Dr. Anungla Aier, stated that classroom teaching is enough to develop a child but also needed other activities to develop in a holistic manner. She also stated that a child needs to develop in a balanced manner in all aspects including intellectual, emotional, physical, social, spiritual and moral values.

Altogether, seven schools participated in the competitions. Winners were awarded cash prizes with certificates. The winners would participate in the state-level competition at Kohima.

In the extempore speech competition, Kisangwala Longkumer from Bridges Academy in Changtongya secured the first position, while Chendila Walling from Queen Mary Higher Secondary School secured the second position and Temjenlemla from Canaan Christian Higher Secondary School secured the third position.

In the quiz competition, Chumlanthung Rangthang  and Yimren L Jamir from Queen Mary Higher Secondary School secured the first position, while Yimchar Imchen and Aotoshi Longkumer from Ladybird School secured the second position and the third position was jointly shared by Md. Khurshed Reja and Tosachingchong from Canaan Christian Higher Secondary School and Md. Asif Ansari and Sunepjungla Pongen from Straightway Higher Secondary School.

In a related programme, Wokha unit of the ANPSA organised an inter-school quiz and extempore speech competitions at Fr. John Larrea Memorial Auditorium of Don Bosco Higher Secondary School in Wokha town on September 8.

In his brief introductory, the unit president, K Edward Ngullie, stressed on the importance of engaging students in various activities other than classroom transaction of lessons. He encouraged healthy intellectual competitions and other co-curricular activities amongst member schools.

In the quiz competition, Lichumbeni Irena E Tungoe and Lumchibeni T Kikon from Perennial School secured the first position, while N Vanjamo Jami and Nongothung Mozhui from Bethsaida School secured the second position and Lichumlo R Odyuo and Thungden B Ngullie from Santsuo School secured the third position.

In the extempore speech competition, Khyoben NA Erui from Don Bosco Higher Secondary School secured the first position, while Shatipong Jamir from Perennial School secured the second position and Lithan E Tungoe from Perennial School secured the third position.

It mentioned that all the prize money of the competition was donated by a philanthropic society of Wokha ‘Mharenden’ as part of its literary outreach programme.
