Dimapur, Sep. 10 (EMN): Eight teams will compete in the 1st Chümoukedima Dimapur Football Association (CDFA) League 2022, which will commence on September 17 at Chümoukedima local ground.

This was announced by the president of CDFA, Vitouto Kuotsu during a press conference at Chakhroma Public Organisation (CPO) hall Chümoukedima on Saturday.

Kuotsu informed that CDFA League 2022 will start from September 17 and conclude on October 1. The champion of the tournament will receive a cash prize of INR 1.5 lakh and the runner-up will receive INR 80,000.

In individual awards, player of the tournament will be awarded INR 10,000 and best goalkeeper, best defender and highest goal scorer will receive INR 5000 each respectively.

General Secretary, Shiyeto Wotsa mentioned that the CDFA is an association that primarily focuses on the grassroots level player, emphasising on their development and giving them greater opportunities at state and national levels.

Despite the fact that Chümoukedima district and the association are new, Wotsa stated that the association’s members are among the ‘most enthusiastic and dynamic leaders’ who have long worked in the field of football.

The teams that will be competing in the tournament are Chümoukedima FC, Sovima FC, Medziphema United, Naga United FC, Gorkha United FC, United Eimi Brothers, Piphema Youth Organisation and Falcon United Medziphema. The winners of this tournament will represent Chümoukedima district in the upcoming Nagaland football league.

The president of CDFA also informed that PHED minister Jacob Zhimomi has consented to attend the opening ceremony while the president of Nagaland Football Association (NFA) and executive member of All India football Federation, K Neibou Sekhose will be the chief guest at the closing ceremony.

Northeast Pride Cup from September 24

At the sidelines of the press conference, CEO of Genesis Max Foundation, Abhijeet Oberoi also informed that Genesis Max foundation in association with Assam Don Bosco University were coming up with a football tournament called ‘Northeast Pride Cup,’ which will be one of the biggest in Northeast India.

The tournament will be held across 22 different cities across the seven states of Northeast. In Nagaland, they will be conducting the tournament in Kohima, Dimapur and Chümoukedima and the tournament will start on September 24 from Shillong and simultaneously happen across all 22 different districts across Northeast India.

Oberoi added that for Chümoukedima district, they have partnered with CDFA, who will help them conduct the tournament, get registration and provide a better platform for the districts and Nagaland.

The North East Pride Cup is an amateur open tournament for players under the categories of U14, U16 and U19 in the seven north-eastern states of India. The winner among all the 22 districts will compete at Assam Don Bosco University in November to become the champion of Northeast Pride Cup, and win a cash prize of INR 3 lakh.

The purpose of the tournament is to encourage football in the region in a safe and structured environment while also developing psychosocial qualities like sportsmanship, team spirit, and leadership, it was informed.

Teams can register for the tournament at northeastpridecup@gmail.com, while registration fee will be charged at INR 200 per player.
