Dimapur, Sep. 6 (EMN): District Sports Council, Peren, organised a felicitation programme for medal winners in the recently concluded 2nd Nagaland Olympic and Paralympic Games 2022 at DC’s conference hall, Peren, on Tuesday
Advisor, Water Resources, Namri Nchang, who was the special guest in his address, lauded the medal winners for bringing laurels to the district, an official update stated. He said despite poor infrastructure in the district he was surprised to see so many sports enthusiasts coming up from Peren. Namri stressed on the importance of good habits including diet to maintain athletic health.
Chef de mission, DSC, Asembe Mbungcha, said Peren district won eight gold, five silver and 13 bronze medals and stood in fifth position in the overall medal tally. He also extended gratitude on behalf of the council to all the well-wishers who have contributed generously, both financially and in kind, in support of Peren DSC. The function was chaired by DC Peren and chairman DSC, Vineet Kumar, it stated.
Chümoukedima district also felicitated the district contingent which participated in the 2nd Nagaland Olympic and Paralympic Games 2022, a DIPR report stated.
The felicitation programme held on Tuesday was graced by advisor, Sericulture, Excise & Minority Affairs, Zhaleo Rio, and, Azheto Zhimomi, MLA. The district contingent comprising of 122 participants won one gold, 12 silver, and 13 bronze medals.
Rio appealed to the sportspersons to practice mentally and physically and maintain consistency and discipline. He said their achievement is just a beginning under a new district and that with trained coaches and good players, the district can achieve greater heights.
Zhimomi congratulated the winners and wished them success in their future endeavors. He also appealed to individuals, sports officers and district officers to extend support to the sportspersons.
The felicitation programme was chaired by chef de mission, Chümoukedima district, Seyiekhrietuo Solo.
