Union Minister of State for MSME inaugurates national conclave in Manipur

Churachandpur, Sep. 2 (EMN): In a move to promote entrepreneurship and to bring development at all sections of the society, especially the marginalised groups, including Scheduled Caste/Scheduled Tribe entrepreneurs, National Scheduled Caste- Scheduled Tribe Hub Conclave was held at Churachandpur, 65 km south of Imphal on Friday.

The conclave was organised by the Ministry of Micro, Small & Medium Enterprises (MSME) along the lines of the Public Procurement Policy, 2012.

Union Minister of State for Micro, Small & Medium Enterprises (MSME) Bhanu Pratap Singh Verma highlighted the NSSH schemes and other schemes of the ministry.

He stated that the National SC/ST Hub would provide professional support to the SC/ST enterprises and work towards the development of new entrepreneurs to participate in the public procurement process leveraging on the ‘Stand up India’ program.

The minister also assured that support and mentoring services will be provided to selected entrepreneurs by industry experts, Central Public Sector Enterprises, and incubators.

Highlighting the achievements of state government in her address during the conclave, Manipur Minister of textiles, commerce and industry department and co-operation Nemcha Kipgen said the government of Manipur, expressed her anticipations that this conclave will improve the lives of many people belonging to SC/ST communities and will play an integral role in the development of the state and the country’s economy.

During the conclave, awards were given to top three entrepreneurs while stores were set up to showcase the numerous products of different entrepreneurs in the state.

It may be mentioned that the National SC/ST Hub is an initiative of the government of India targeted towards developing a supportive ecosystem for SC/ST entrepreneurs.

Upon his arrival on Thursday, Singh Verma held an interaction programme with All Manipur Entrepreneurs Association (AMEA), Manipur Industrial Department Council and other stakeholders of Manipur in Imphal.

The interaction programme was organised by Micro Small and Medium Entrepreneurs-Development and Facilitation Office at Takyelpat in Imphal.

During the interaction programme, the beneficiaries of Prime Minister Employment Guarantee Programme and representatives from AMEA shared their problems, ideas and suggestions, regarding loans from banks and various difficulties faced during the process.
