NFR: Double line between New Bongaigaon and Bijni stations commissioned
Dimapur, Aug. 31 (EMN): The Commissioner of Railway Safety (CRS) Northeast Frontier Railway (NFR) circle has completed the statutory inspection of the newly laid double line between New Bongaigaon and Bijni stations on Aug. 30.
An update from the NFR issued on Aug. 31 informed that the newly laid second line will be utilised for goods and passenger traffic with maximum speed of 110 km per hour.
The entire length of New Bongaigaon – Agthori via Rangiya doubling project is of 142.97 km.
The stretch between New Bongaigaon to Bijni is of 17.53 km. Speed trial at 130 km per hour was done by the Commissioner of Railway Safety (CRS)/NF circle.
The anticipated cost of the whole project is expected to be around INR 2042 crore.
The remaining section from Bijni to Agthori is targeted to be completed by December next year.
In the entire section between New Bongaigaon – Agthori via Rangiya, there will be 75 major bridges, 38 minor bridges and 19 new station buildings, the update informed.
On completion of this entire section, the northeast connectivity will be boosted significantly.
