Nagaland: Organisations demand probe into the death of Naga youth
Dimapur, Aug. 25 (EMN): Various organisations have condemned the custodial death of Henveih Phom from Anaki ‘C’ village on August 21 and demanded the concerned authority to initiate investigation.
ENSF: The Eastern Naga Students’ Federation, while condemning the heinous act, stated that the inhuman and irresponsible act by the law enforcing force was totally unacceptable and a matter of disgrace to the constitution of the country.
In a representation to the state chief secretary, the federation has demanded the competent authority to immediately constitute a special investigation team (SIT) to enquire into the mysterious death of Henveih Phom and to ensure timely delivery of justice to the bereaved family and book the perpetrators under the relevant section of the law.
ENWO: The Eastern Nagaland Women Organisation (ENWO) has also condemned the act of violence by the police personnel. It stated that such inhuman and diabolical act ought to be rightly condemned by all right-thinking citizens. “Violence is never the right answer against any situation and there can be no justification for anyone to take away another’s life,” ENWO stated.
ENWO further appealed to the state government and law enforcing agencies to identify the culprits and award befitting punishment according to the law. It further conveyed condolence to the bereaved family members.
KU: The Konyak Union (KU), while denouncing the death of Henveih Phom in mysterious circumstances under the custody of Assam Police, stated that the Assam Police has time and again proved that ‘they are nothing but goons and dacoits of Northeast India in uniform without any sanity and integrity of being in the uniform service which otherwise is to protect and safeguard the people of this country.’
KU has condemned the brutal murder of Henveih Phom in the strictest of terms and appealed to the government of Nagaland to take up the matter immediately and book the culprits as per appropriate law so as to ensure justice to the bereaved family.
Ao Senden: The Ao Senden has strongly condemned the barbaric action and consequent torture and committing custodial death of one E Henveih Phom by the Assam Police. Ao Senden said the act clearly indicated that the death was committed by the law keepers where they have taken the law into their own hands.
It appealed to the authority to book the erring personnel and initiate legal action and deliver justice so that such heinous action does not happen to anyone in the future.
LKM: The Langpangkong Kaketshir Mungdang, while condemning the barbaric actions of the Assam Police personnel and its agents for the inhuman torture and brutal killing of Henveih Phom, had demand a judicial probe into the mysterious death of the victim and give befitting punishment to the erring officials and personnel of the concerned police station and other related agencies for omission and negligence on their part for dispensing due justice.
In an letter to the additional deputy commissioner of Tuli, LKM further appealed the concerned authority to pursue for awarding compensation to the surviving victim’s family so as to uphold the rule of law in the interest of justice.
