Diphu, Aug. 24 (EMN): As part of the recently launched education awareness campaign, Mission-2025, for quality education, the Executive Member (EM), Karbi Anglong Autonomous Council (KAAC), Richard Tokbi visited some schools on Wednesday.
During his visit, it was found that Samelangso High School was closed. The headmaster of the school Mainuddin Ahmed who stays in the school quarter informed Tokbi that the school was declared a holiday on account of Samelangso Large Area Multipurpose Society (LAMPS) elections as some of the teachers were stakeholders in the LAMPS.
Surprised by how teachers can be stakeholders in LAMPS and how a headmaster can declare holiday,
the EM has written a show cause notice to the 11 staff both teaching and non-teaching including the headmaster for their negligence towards duty.
The EM also inspected the incomplete school building granted by Rashtriya Madhyamik Shiksha Abhiyan (RMSA). In the 2022 Matric examination out of 120 students who appeared 94 passed. The student enrollment is 242.
Tokbi who visited Jaipong High School was taken aback when one of the teachers said that classes IX and X students have not come to school post COVID-19 wit hthe fear of taking COVID-19 vaccine. Out of 17 appeared during 2022 matric exam, none passed.
Going up to Langlokso, the EM while visiting Rong Ar-eh ME school at Pinkhat Rongpi village noticed that more infrastructure is needed for the school but expressed his happiness when the LP nursery students could speak in English. The school with 101 students has only one teacher, Shila Ronghangpi. Interestingly, the teacher who had gone to attend a memorial programme in the village engaged her daughter and a youth to take the class in her absence.
The EM also visited Nihang Rongphar ME School at Haberam Rongphar, Dokmoka.
