Sub-divisional police officer of Pfustero, Jenmei Konyak, informed that the incident happened on August 8 evening at around 6:30-7:30 pm. He said that on receiving the information, he along with other police personnel rushed to the scene where the woman was murdered.

After shifting the body from the spot, the police apprehended the culprit who had locked himself in his room after murdering his mother. The police officer said that when they forcefully entered his room, he was found lying on his bed without any clothes on.
The police took the victim into custody after clothing him, and a case had been filed against him.

The police officer said that the body of the woman had been handed over to the family members for the final rites after completing all the legal formalities.
