Mokokchung, July 29 (EMN): The Ao Senden has revoked 30 years ex-communication order against the Changki Ayim Asem Senso Mungdang (CAASM) following the latter’s decision to resolve the clan’s misunderstanding between them and appeal to be a part of Ao community on July 29.
In a press release, the Ao Senden stated that on August 3, 2006, the Changki inter-clan disputes were tabled before the Senden in which it tried to mediate and resolve the dispute as per Ao ethos, which was declined by CAASM. Following the development, Ao Senden, on October 10, 2014, ex-communicated CAASM from the Ao community for a period of 30 years.
“In such a peril time, the in-laws of Changki (Changki anükapang) played a critical role for peace and conflict resolution between the Changki people and settled the differences through an agreement on May 25, 2022,” the statement stated.
In connection with the agreement between the Changki people, CAASM approached the Ao Senden with a letter along with evidence to reconsider them as part of the Ao community, it stated. Subsequently, the Ao Senden executives summoned a meeting including both the groups from Changki and in-laws of Changki as the witness on July 29, 2022, wherein it resolved “to show mercy and forgiveness to CAASM as per the practices of Ao ethos.
“From today CAASM has been given every rights and practices observed and uphold by the Ao ethos under the ambit of Ao Senden,” the statement read. However, it cautioned that the Ao Senden would not tolerate any action that goes beyond the Ao customary laws and practices.
