KSU confers Thanglong Yanlem Award for Academic Excellence

Dimapur, July 21 (EMN): The Konyak Students’ Union (KSU) conferred the first Thanglong Yanlem Award for Academic Excellence to Yingmei M Konyak, HSLC top-20, and Ngamjong JN Yanlem, HSSLC top-1 (Science stream) during a programme held in its office on July 21.

The award was sponsored by Thanglong Yanlem and family for the first time among the Konyak community within Mon district, informed an update from KSU.

The programme was chaired by K Nonlih, KSU assistant women coordinator, while the invocation was said by Rev. Yeangphong, advisor of KSU, and the welcome address was delivered by T Noklem Konyak, president of KSU.

Speaking on behalf of Thanglong Yanlem family members, the additional superintendent of police, Mon, T Ado Yanlem, stated that the award for the academic excellence would continue starting from this year to the HSLC and HSSLC toppers from bonafide Konyak community. Yanlem also stated that the modest initiative was undertaken in honour of his father’s dream to contribute towards the Konyak community.

Self introductory speeches were delivered by the toppers of HSLC and HSSLC, Yingmei M Konyak and Ngamjong JN Yanlem, respectively.

Words of encouragement were delivered by Manlip, advisor of Konyak Union; Ponglem, president of KNSK; and Chinglang, president of Konyak Gazetted Officers Union. All the speakers have congratulated both the toppers for bring laurels to the Konyak community and also acknowledged Thanglong Yanlem and his family for the commendable initiatives. KSU president, T Noklem Konyak, gave away the meritorious certificates, while cash award of INR 15000 was handed over by Ado Yanlem to both the toppers. Special prayer was said by Wangchah, KBBB youth secretary, and concluded with a mass benediction.
