Nagaland Olympic and Paralympic Games 2022 to begin on August 22
Dimapur, July 20 (EMN): The Nagaland Olympic and Paralympic Games (NOPG) 2022 will be held from August 22 to the 27th, wherein sportspersons from across the state will compete in various disciplines.
An update from Nagaland Olympic Association (NOA) Secretary General, Abu Metha, informed that competitions will be held in 11 disciplines namely: archery, athletics, badminton, basketball, boxing, football, shooting sport, taekwondo, table tennis, tennis, and wushu.
It stated the list of disciplines was determined as per the upcoming North East Olympic Games and also taking the available infrastructure and resources into consideration and the contingents will be as per the 16 districts of the state.
The registration of players and teams will be done online and the last date for submission of players and officials’ registration is August 13. Once players are registered, there will be no change of names, it stated.
“Preparatory expenditure will be sanctioned to respective deputy commissioners on the basis of number of athletes representing the districts. A separate notification on this matter will be issued,” it informed, adding that “the games organizing committee will provide accommodation, local transport, food and technical competition arrangements in the host city. The dates for arrival and departure will be notified separately”.
The NOA has requested all the districts to appoint a Chef de Mission, Deputy Chef de Mission and a District Team Manager, and send their details including name, contact number and e-mail address to nagaolym@gmail.com by August 15.
It added that the coordinating officials — T. Meren Paul (Senior Vice President): 6009810695 and Neivikuolie Khatsu (Assistant Secretary General): 9366966842 — can be contacted between 2 pm and 5 pm from Monday to Friday.
It went on to inform that some disciplines will begin at an earlier date and a separate notification related to the Paralympic discipline, which will be in the form of demonstration sports and not inter-district, will be notified by the Paralympic Committee.
