Dimapur, July 15 (EMN): Veteran politician and president of Naga People’s Front (NPF), Dr. Shürhozelie Liezietsu on Friday claimed that NPF is the only political party that is acting as a “guardian” of the Naga people and that it will continue with the same aims and objectives till the Naga political problem is solved.
Speaking at the induction programme of the party’s new office bearers of 8th Western Angami assembly seat, Shürhozelie said that unlike other political parties that came into existence to contest election and fight for power, the birth of NPF has a different story, according to an update from the party’s press bureau.
He said the party was born in the Naga soil when “heaviest bloodshed” in connection with the Naga people’s struggle was at its peak.
He said the regional party does not aspire for power and money but to bring peace and justice, and to raise the voice of the Naga people. Therefore, he said, NPF is not a mere political party but a party with a purpose for the Naga people.
Shürhozelie also said that many new political parties entered Nagaland for election but faded away because they did not have any root.
He said the NPF, on the other hand, has gone through thick and thin and faced all kinds of weather, and is still standing strong as it is deeply rooted within the Naga society.
He maintained that NPF will always stand to safeguard the regional interest of the Naga people and to carry forward the aspiration of the Naga people for early resolution to the vexed Naga political problem, a solution which is “honourable, acceptable and inclusive”.
He also impressed upon the new team of 8th Western Angami A/C to give their best and expressed optimism that the team will carry the aspiration of the people forward.
The new president of the unit, Makole Suosahie, assured to work in full faith with the leadership of the party, saying that the party workers will give their best to win the 8th Western Angami A/C, the bastion of the regional party, in the coming election.
The working president of NPF Kohima division, Vira Lhousa, chaired the programme; NPF central senior vice president, Kruzakie Kelio presented the search committee report and pledge; and NPF central general secretary, Neiko Lhousa proposed vote of thanks, informed the update.
