Nine schools in Kohima shortlisted for Lighthouse project
Dimapur, July 8 (EMN): School Education department has shortlisted a total of nine schools in Kohima district for implementation of Lighthouse Schools under Nectar project.
This was disclosed by the deputy commissioner of Kohima, Shanavas C, during the first meeting of Kohima District Committee for Lighthouse Schools (DCLS) under Nectar project held in his office’s conference hall on July 8. The deputy commissioner has directed the office of the Land Record and Survey to carry out verification based on the survey and to submit the land details for onward submission to the government, stated a DIPR report.
The deputy commissioner informed that the main purpose of the committee was to ensure proper procedures and guidelines for setting up the Lighthouse Schools in the district. He also highlighted the roles and responsibilities of the committee.
Stating that the project was the first in the Northeast India, the deputy commissioner sought active support of all concerned and civil society organisations for effective implementation of the project.
The district education officer, Kohima, also gave a brief highlight on the selection process of the lighthouse schools complex conducted among the 24 government high schools and seven government higher secondary schools under Kohima district.
