Nagaland: SAMETI conducts training for ATMA functionaries
Dimapur, June 20 (EMN): State Agricultural Management and Extension Training Institute (SAMETI), Medziphema, conducted a two-day training program on “Integrated nutrient management (INM) in cereal and kharif crops” for ATMA functionaries at its premises on June 16 and 17.
An update from SAMETI stated that the trainees were taught on composting techniques to improve soil health and crop yield, feasible methods of INM on cereal crops, and bio-fertilizer application on maize. It added that practical session on waste decomposer, different techniques of composting were also conducted during the training.
Resource persons of the training were Dr. Vizokhonyü Yhome, lecturer at IETC, Medziphema; Z Kawikhonliu, SRF of Agronomy at ICAR; and Dr. Moasunep, AI of Bio-Control Laboratory at IETC, Medziphema.
The valedictory programme was chaired by Janet Chishi, SAMETI deputy project director, wherein feedback on the training was delivered by all the participants of 11 districts. It added that certificates were distributed to the trainees by the SAMETI director, Dr. Watimongla Jamir.
