Ayurvedic medicine not robust in state — medical officer

Dimapur, June 18 (EMN): The scenario of Ayurvedic system of medicine in Nagaland is not as robust as other states but despite the limitations and shortcomings “we the Ayurveda doctors are continuously striving to streamline ayurveda as one of the conventional system of medicine,” stated Dr. Gwachung Magh, medical officer (Ayurveda) at Integrated AYUSH hospital, Chedema, in Kohima district.

He was speaking on behalf of the Ayurvedic Doctors Association Nagaland (ADAN) at a programme organised by Rajasthan Aushadhalaya Private Limited (RAPL) at Hotel Europa Inn, Dimapur, on Saturday. He informed that there are around 30 Ayurvedic doctors working in Nagaland at present.

Speaking about the COVID-19 pandemic, he said that Ayurveda with its age-old principles of treatment and regimen has helped in curbing the dreadful disease.

He stressed that after these unprecedented times, the Ayurvedic doctors have also contributed selflessly towards the expansion and progress of the Ayurvedic system by organising health awareness campaigns, educating the public regarding illegal and inappropriate use of ayurvedic medicines and others.

He further stated that ADAN aims to promote and create awareness of the Ayurvedic system of medicine to the people of the state; deal with any matter relating to Ayurvedic system of medicine; advocate unity and harmony among Ayurvedic doctors; safeguard the interest of Ayurvedic doctors; and to monitor and maintain the standard of Ayurvedic doctors and their practice in Nagaland.

He also conveyed his appreciation to the RAPL for organising the programme to honour and acknowledge the service of Ayurvedic doctors.

Dr. Vilas Gangurde, in-charge of Regional Ayurveda Research Centre, Dimapur, and Salim Diwan, managing director of RAPL group (Mumbai), also spoke during the programme.
