Music Guilds: Second edition of Northeast music awards on June 18

Kohima, June 16 (EMN): As part of the second edition of the Musician Guilds’ red carpet event, a music award ceremony would be held for the musicians of Northeast India.
The event is slated to be held on June 18 (Saturday) at RCEMPA in Jotsoma, Kohima from 5 pm onwards.
This was announced during a press conference held at The Heritage addressed by Musician Guilds, President Melekhoto Pucho; Advisor, Yanpvuo Kikon and members Mengu Suokhrie, Kevisa Khamo; Metet Jamir and others.
Kikon said that the music award aims to establish an institution in Nagaland that recognises artistry of high standards, to acknowledge artiste in writing and composing original songs and to encourage more creative people in the state who are musically inclined inorder to have a repository of originality that is not only traditional but contemporary spreading across different genres.
He maintained that the organisers aims in bringing a platform for the Naga musicians to compete at Northeast and national level while adding that unlike last year, this year’s event would be in person.
‘We want Nagaland to be a truly creative hub in the region, we have so many creative people among the young people with so many talents and we want them to produce original content and not singing covers and that was the basic idea,’ stated the Advisor of the Musician Guilds.
He informed that the competition is open to all the northeastern states and have received 235 entries from all the states with different categories- best rock artist; hip-hop; electronic music, pop- solo; pop- duo; fusions; song of the year and most promising artiste.
It added that five nominations for each category was made and was adjudged by the three judges: Shalmali, an Indian pop sensation, song-writer and composer who also won best female playback singer at the prestigious filmfare award for the song Pareshan and also at the screen award, while also Times of India Awards and Stardust Awards, who also is one the judges for Sony Entertainment Television’s India Idol Junior for auditions. Karan, an award winning Indian artiste, composer, producer and engineer based in Los Angeles, California among many other feats and Among Jamir, a Mumbai based musician who has been touring with some of the biggest names in the country for more than a decade.
The event will be hosted by Ruopfuzhanuo Whiso and the artiste line up for the night are Nourhe; ZT Slingshot; Imliakum Aier and the electric cool kid; Asu J FT; Imsongdi Imsong; Big Dane; Bozio Nienu; Hime; Akhrieze; Mezanuo; Achumla and Albert.
The organisers have informed that the event will be free entry.
World Music Day concert at The Heritage
Meanwhile Melekhoto Pucho stated that the Musician Guilds have been celebrating World Music Day since 2011 and has been one of the most successful events for music besides the Hornbill Music Festival in the state.
For more than a decade, the concert is held annually on June 21 with the motive to celebrate all the musicians.
This year too, it will be held at The Heritage from 4 pm onwards.
The organisers informed that the artiste line-up for the event are: Abdon Mech; Temsu Clover; Imliakum Aier and the electric cool kid; Powerfaith; KL Pamie; Moko Koza; Dieze Sothu; Prodgs; Senti Kichu; Zayie; After 20’s; Hime; Wishess (Manipur); Lapla Oungh; Fifth note; Imnaienla and Worngam.
There will be an entry of INR 200 per head.
