Nagaland Chelsea, Liverpool supporters’ club organise friendly football match
Dimapur, June 12 (EMN): Two English Premier League (EPL) fan clubs of Nagaland — NagaKop, the Official Liverpool Supporters’ Club (OLSC) Nagaland and Chelsea Fans Nagaland (CFN) — organised a friendly football match at IG Stadium, Kohima on June 11.
NagaKop registered a runaway 6-1 win over CFN with a brace each from Akika, Akhrie and Kevi, while Sunep Imchen scored a consolation goal for CFN, a DIPR report informed.
The officials for the match were Samuel, Repa and Ren, who are also currently officiating the ongoing Morning Premier League organised by the Morning Football Association.
In the post-match gathering, members and executives of both the fan clubs expressed delight and happiness over the huge turnout of their members at the event with fans even coming up all the way from Zubza and Dimapur, besides Kohima.
Rovikotuo Yhoshu, Convenor of CFN said that the friendly match was just the start of many more other events that have been planned out for the future. He expressed hope that other supporters’ clubs will also join forces in organising such events on a regular basis and opined the start of futsal or football tournaments and leagues amongst the supporters clubs of Nagaland in the future.
Imchuyanger, President of OLSC thanked all the fans from both clubs for their participation and hoped to organise more events in the days to come, it said.
The event was organised to bring together the growing fan base of the two EPL clubs in Nagaland and allow the supporters to celebrate the game and the club they love, while providing a way of meeting fellow fans. Formed out of passion and to bring all their supporters under one roof and organise friendly football matches, the OLSC and CFN were formed.
