Diphu, May 30 (EMN): With a week left for the Karbi Anglong Autonomous Council (KAAC) election, candidates from several political parties and independent from the Phuloni Member of Autonomous Council (MAC) constituency are making all efforts to woo voters.

All Party Hills Leaders Conference (APHLC) candidate Dhaniram Timung on May 29 said that APHLC is fighting for the rights of Schedule Tribe communities in Karbi Anglong as per the provision provided in the Constitution of India.

Blaming the MAC of Phuloni and MLA Dorsing Ronghang, Timung said that in the last five years, nothing had been done for the people of Phuloni. He added that BJP is fooling the people by taking the name of development and Article 244 (A).

“The visit of Prime Minister Narendra Modi at Loringthepi has benefited nothing for the people. The six-armed organisations, in the name of peace in Karbi Anglong, signed the MoS last year but the agreement has become meaningless”, Timung said.

Timung also said that the Chief Executive Member (CEM) of KAAC, Tuliram Ronghang has fooled them.  “After the signing of the MoS the CEM made them join BJP, but now, in the MAC election, they are denied party tickets. The former general secretary of disbanded armed organisation Karbi Longri NC Hills Liberation Frong Rupsing Teron after being denied a ticket by BJP is contesting as an independent candidate.  What is the use of signing the MoS if BJP cannot give a ticket to him? Or is Teron an agent of BJP”, Timung questioned.

Timung has vowed to take up development if voted to power in Phuloni. The APHLC will face a neck-to-neck fight with BJP in Phuloni, Timung said.

On the other hand, sitting MAC from Phuloni and MLA Dorsing Ronghang, during an election meeting held at Rensing Rongpi village playground said, “I told my wife (Sabina Teronpi) who was also one of the ticket aspirants that BJP party does not entertain family politics and there is nothing to be disheartened for not getting party ticket.  Getting a ticket by Kangbura Killing, which is the choice of party workers, is the same as getting a party ticket”.

He also said the MAC Local Area Development Funds has been increased to INR 1.30 lakhs that can be used for development. He urged the voters to support and elect BJP candidate Kangbura Killing for more development in Phuloni.
