KAAC initiates free coaching for civil service exams

Diphu, May 9 (EMN): Karbi Anglong Autonomous Council (KAAC) has introduced a free coaching centre for UPSC and APSC civil service examinations in collaboration with Unified Foundation, Guwahati, which was formally inaugurated by Tuliram Ronghang, Chief Executive Member (CEM), KAAC at Diphu Government Pig-cum-Poultry Farm campus on Monday.

To meet the expenses of the coaching centre such as expenses for teachers’ honorarium, internet facility in the classroom and other requirements, the KAAC has earmarked an annual budget of INR 2, 22, 25, 200.

Inaugurating the coaching centre, the CEM said that the main aim and objective of the KAAC in setting up the coaching centre is to train aspirants for UPSC/APSC civil service examination by expert mentors from across the country, who will impart the training.

This initiative will not only boost the motivation of the aspirants, but will also give them the opportunity to acquire knowledge, information and skill for the national examination, he added.

The CEM also informed that intending candidates desiring to undergo coaching will have to fulfill certain criteria such as being a bonafide citizen of Karbi Anglong and West Karbi Anglong, produce a permanent resident certificate and must be a graduate in any streams. Each year 100 students will be taken in for coaching.

Director, UNIFIED Foundation, Dr. Zafreen Mehjabin said, “It is a historic day for Karbi Anglong as KAAC has taken this initiative for the wellbeing of the upcoming civil servants”.

“As the director of Unified Foundation and having served in Northeastern India for several years, I take pride in producing the most efficient and distinguished persons. This is not a project, but a mission and I pledge to leave no stone unturned in producing not less than 20 IAS officers from Karbi Anglong by 2024”, he added.

It is a vision of the CEM and the students have to walk extra mile to achieve it. Faculties from various centres of excellence from all over India will come here to teach the students, Mehjabin said.

The inaugural programme was attended by MP Horensing Bey, MLA Bidyasing Engleng, Executive Members of KAAC, officials of KAAC and students leaders.
