Dimapur, May 3 (EMN): Leader of the legislature wing, Naga People’s Front (NPF), Kuzholuzo Nienu stated that the party was not averse to any political group or leaders and it will carry forward the aspiration and voice of the Naga people.

Nienu stated this during a felicitation programme for the new appointment of the NPF leader of legislature wing and chief whip of the party Dr. Nganshi K Ao at the Central Office in Kohima on Tuesday.

Nienu further urged the party workers to be united and work together.

Speaking about the defection of 21 MLAs, Nienu stated that it was ‘shocking’ but ‘not new for the NPF party to shift loyalty’.

“We did not know the timing of their defection but it is on the expected line”, Nienu stated, a press communiqué from NPF press bureau said.

However, he expressed optimism that with the remaining MLAs, party leaders and workers, the NPF would make many new changes and reach greater heights.

He also called for fresh ideas and thoughts for the uplift of the party and asserted that under his leadership, he would give his best for the service of the people and the party.

The new chief whip, MLA Dr. Nganshi K Ao said that the recent development of the defection was a ‘blessing in disguise’ for the party.

‘With a clean house, the NPF will start afresh for  better politics and do justice for the people of Nagaland,’ he stated.

“Politics is clean, yet, we play politics dirty”, he said adding that the party should be careful while allotting party tickets for the election.

He also told the party workers that the recent development was not the end, and NPF was the ‘right platform for the Naga people’.

Meanwhile, Secretary General, Achumbemo Kikon who chaired the occasion, called for support of the newly elected leaders of the party and together restore the party again.

Working President, Apong Pongener added that the defection was not a new experience by the party but it had overcome all crises due to the firm stand of the party.

While calling upon the party for unity and giving full support to the leadership of the party, Pongener stated that together, ‘we can fight any wind that blows against the party’.
