Nagaland: Modern College students intern in retail for hands on experience
Dimapur, May 2 (EMN): Students of Modern College, Kohima specialising in Bachelor of Vocation (B. Voc. – Retail Management and IT) completed their one month internship across retail stores in Kohima and Dimapur from April 1 to 30.
The B. Voc. programme lays emphasis on the internship to acquire first hand experience in real work environment apart from their theoretical knowledge, an update from the institute informed
Students from the 6th, 4th and 2nd semesters were trained in retail specific job roles such as sales associate, department managers and store managers. The student-interns worked on visual merchandising, stock control, stock taking, stock inward, opening and closing of store, and cash handling.
Apart from the specific skills sets, they also learnt important professional skills such as punctuality at work, time management, communication, leadership and team work abilities.
The partnering organisations are Max, Pantaloons and Westside in Dimapur and First Cry in Kohima.
