Dimapur, May 1 (EMN): In retaliation to the ban imposed by the Peren civil society organisations (CSO) on transportation of logs except for sawn timber, the Nagaland Timber Traders’ Union (NTTU) has announced to launch indefinite economic blockade on Peren district with effect from May 2 starting from 6 am on two main Dimapur-Peren routes.
A NTTU press release issued by its publicity cell has explained in detail on the sequence of events leading to the present unresolved issues between the timber contractors and Peren civil society organisations, which led to the economic blockade. NTTU has requested the public to understand the reason behind the economic blockade. It further cautioned that undue interference from certain organisations and groups would be held accountable to pay the total money invested in Peren by the timber contractors during the blockade imposed by NTTU.
