Nagaland: Rio to inaugurate community market complex at Agri Expo

Dimapur, April 30 (EMN): A community market complex (CMC) housing 66 stalls and a cafe with an aim to provide employment opportunities to 150 entrepreneurs will be inaugurated by Chief Minister Neiphiu Rio on May 2 at NE Agri Expo, Chumoukedima.
This was stated by Y Kikheto Sema, Agriculture Production Commissioner (APC) during a press conference at Nagaland State Agriculture Marketing Board office in Dimapur on Saturday.
He said that in commemoration of Azadi Ka Amrit Mahotsav (AKAM), the union government decided April 28-May 4 as week for the NE region and under the aegis of Ministry of Ministry of Development of North Eastern Region (DoNER), the Agri and allied departments of Nagaland has organised the programme for the state on the theme “Monetising agri-horti and organic potentials of ne through value chain development”.
The culmination programme will be held at Guwahati on May 4, where the president of India Ram Nath Govind will be the chief guest and the governor, chief minister, chief secretaries and senior officials of the Northeast region are expected to attend the programme, he informed.
Speaking on the Community Market Complex, he shared that it was set up to create maximum employment opportunities for young entrepreneurs who are willing to sell their organic products through the facilities available.
‘The state government is preparing this facility so that the young entrepreneurs, the SHGs , FPOs and FPCs can avail the facilities, at a minimal rent’, he added. He informed that they are still working on the criteria for eligibility of entrepreneurs. He also maintained that some facilities are yet to be completed but once all the works are sorted out, the public will be informed.
He further informed that in celebration of AKAM on Monday, BL Verma, Minister of State for DoNER , Government of India, will also inaugurate Naturally Nagaland exhibition stalls under the banner “Naturally Nagaland”.
Further, he informed that after the inauguration of CMC and Naturally Nagaland stalls, the inaugural programme will be held at Angh House at 10:15 am, where elected representatives, administrative head of departments, head of departments, and officers of the Agri and allied departments, national and state awardees in the field of art, literature, social services, entrepreneurs, farmers, youths, etc are expected to attend the programme.
The afternoon session on the theme will be conducted from 1 pm.
He further stated that the exhibition of “Naturally Nagaland” will continue till May 3 for the benefit of the public.
