Medical department conducts health mela across Nagaland

Dimapur, April 26 (EMN): As part of Azadi Ka Amrit Mahatsav, Health department conducted block-level health mela in different parts of the state on April 26. The health mela was conducted to disseminate information on preventive measures of diseases as well as providing free healthcare delivery services to the public.

The event also served as an important platform to create awareness of various schemes and services provided by the department. It provided screenings for early diagnosis, basic healthcare services including referrals, specialised services and diagnostic services.

Dimapur: As part of Azadi Ka Amrit Mahotsav, the office of the chief medical officer (CMO), Dimapur, organised a block health mela at UPHC in Burma Camp on April 26.

Speaking on the occasion as the guest of honour, the additional deputy commissioner of Dimapur, Atokhe, stated that the health mela was an ideal opportunity for the public to avail health services at their doorstep. He also appreciated the Health department for taking pro-active steps to improve the health delivery system in the district and also for their efforts especially during the Covid-19 pandemic.  

The CMO, Dr. I Moatemjen, also sensitised the gathering on the various healthcare services and schemes made available in all government health units for the benefit of the public. He also urged the communities of Burma Camp to avail the services at the UPHC.

Meanwhile, the CDPO of Dimapur, Renchano Odyuo, has highlighted the various schemes and services under the Social Welfare department during the programme.

It informed that the Social Welfare department also set-up a stall to disseminate information of those schemes and services for the benefit of the public during the health mela.

Peren: The District Health Society, Peren, also organised a Ayushman Bharat block health mela at Jalukie CHC on April 26.

An update from CMO Peren informed that health services such as screening for diabetes, hypertension, yoga and meditation, oral cancer, free diagnostics, ABHA (health ID) and medicines were provided free of cost to 169 patients.

The community was also taught on household hygiene and other communicable diseases. Focus Group Discussion (FGD) and one-to-one sessions were carried out on child health, maternal health, family planning.

In a short inaugural function, Vejoyi Swuro, SDO of Peren, urged the public to avail the medical facilities which were brought at their door steps. He also expressed gratitude to the department for organising the health mela.

The medical team was led by Dr. Keholi, DPO (RCH &UIP); Dr. Imtiakum Aier, SMO; Dr. Hedungkiebe, DVBO; along with Dr. Khriezovon Solo, Dr. Ruokuovinuo Rachel, Dr. Michael, Dr. Gloria, Dr. Dwalie, Dr. Ramheigum and supporting staff and laboratory technicians from NVBDCP, RNTCP, DAPCU, ICTC.

Wokha: Department of Health and Family Welfare, Wokha division, also organised a block level health mela at Chukitong Primary Health Centre (PHC) on April 26.

The CMO of Wokha, Dr. Tumchobeni welcomed the beneficiaries and highlighted the Ayushman Bharat Pradhan Mantri Jan Arogya Yojana scheme, which aimed at providing health services free of cost.

ENT, NCD health card, AB-PMJAY BIS drive, malaria, Ayush, iodine test, HIV counseling, general health check up, immunisation, ANC, eye, RBS, dental etc. were some of the health services availed by more than 253 beneficiaries from six villages under Chukitong block.

The community health officers, Premy Ezung and Chonbeni Kikon gave health talks and demonstrations on hand washing techniques to school students from five educational institutions in Chukitong area.

Dr. Akum Jamir, nodal officer of NTEP, Wokha, informed that sputum examination for any suspected TB cases, review of patients with comorbidity and cough symptoms and CBNAT service were carried out by his team during the health mela.
