Attend PM Modi’s visit at Loringthepi to show strength, unity — KAACHASDCOM

Diphu, April 26 (EMN): The Karbi Anglong and NC Hills Autonomous State Demand Committee (KAACHASDCOM) and its allies has appealed to the people of Karbi Anglong to attend Prime Minister Narendra Modi’s visit at Loringthepi on April 28 in Karbi Anglong district to show strength and unity for implementation of Article 244(A) (Autonomous State) of the Indian constitution.

Addressing a joint press conference at KAANCHASDCOM office on Monday, the president of the committee Ajit Timung said the KAANCHASDCOM and its allies like the Karbi Students Association, Karbi Riso Adorbar, Karbi Adorbar, Karbi So-arlo Amei, Karbi Un-employed Youth Association, Jadikhe Naisho Hoshom and Dimasa Students Union welcome the visit of Prime Minister at Loringthepi and have the expectation that the long standing demand for implementation of Article 244(A) of the Indian constitution will be made.

Timung said the demand for an autonomous state is more than 36 years as Article 244(A) was inserted in the Indian constitution in 1971. “The Prime Minister post being the highest political authority in India to whom the Parliament is empowering him to implement Article 244(A) of the Indian constitution. Hence on such occasions of the visit of the Prime Minister there should not be any differentiation of the matters of social and political ideologies of different political parties and social organisations of Karbi Anglong and Dima Hasao in the name of implementation of Article 244(A).

“Therefore, we appeal to all sections of the people, all political parties and all social organisations to attend the Prime Minister’s visit to demonstrate our long standing demand before the Prime Minister,” Timung said.

Karbi Students’ Association (KSA), president of Thangsing Timung appealed to the youth of Karbi Anglong to come out and participate in the Autonomous state movement.

‘Our struggle for Autonomous State movement has completed 37 years and we should not give up until and unless our goal is achieved we have to move on’, he said.
