Manipur to host Northeast sports meet

Imphal, April 22 (EMN): As part of the 75th Independence Day celebrations, Manipur will be hosting the Northeast regional sports meet 2022 from April 28 to May 3rd.

According to officials of the directorate of Youth Affairs and Sports, around 936 players and officials of NE states including Sikkim will be taking part in the sports meet, which will be held in five disciplines – archery, badminton, boxing, football and table tennis.

The competitions will be held at Khuman Lampak Sports Complex, one of the advanced sports premises in the country and Sports Authority of India, NE regional centre, both located in and around Imphal.

“We’re going to showcase our culture, our tradition and other potential in different spheres of life during the upcoming sports meet,” a senior official of the Sports department informed.
