Dimapur, April 19 (EMN): The ceasefire agreement between the Government of India (GoI) and GPRN/NSCN has been extended for a period of one year with effect from April 28, 2022 to April 27, 2023.
A press statement from MIP, GPRN/NSCN on Tuesday said that the ceasefire agreement was ‘mutually’ extended ‘to bring about lasting peace in the state with the involvement of Naga people’.
The agreement was signed on Tuesday between GPRN/NSCN represented by Nitovi Aye, supervisor, Ceasefire Supervisory Board (CFSB) and Akato Yeptho, secretary, CFSB and Government of India represented by Piyush Goyal, Addl. Secretary, and Ministry of Home Affairs (MHA).
It stated that the ceasefire extension is subjected to ‘adherence to Ceasefire Ground Rules as has been mutually agreed and signed by both the party’.
Further, it added that the Ceasefire Ground Rules would be subjected to mutual review and amendment with the involvement of both the parties in case need arises.
