Dimapur, April 13 (EMN): The Dimapur Chamber of Commerce and Industry (DCCI) informed all transporters, business community and public of Dimapur that a new transporter union has been formed under the nomenclature of All Nagaland Goods Movers Union (ANGMU).

The formation of the new transport union came against the backdrop of the September 25, 2021, joint meeting convened by the Confederation of Nagaland Chamber of Commerce and Industry (CNCCI) and DCCI wherein the then Dimapur Transport Union was banned and subsequently dissolved, an update from DCCI vice president V Shikuto Achumi stated.

He stated that the formation of ANGMU was necessitated following an urgent need to have a transporter union to facilitate smooth flow of goods and essential commodities into the state of Nagaland, especially the commercial hub Dimapur.

DCCI also informed that ANGMU would also act as a bridge between transporters, traders and various government agencies to ensure and streamline supply of goods and essential commodities and to check random illegal taxation, which is ultimately responsible for price inflation.

It further stated that DCCI would strictly monitor the functioning of ANGMU and work collectively for the welfare of transporters and the business community as well keeping in mind the sentiments of the common public.

DCCI requested all registered transporters and business community of Dimapur to cooperate with ANGMU.
