Land Owners’ Union Doyang sports meet underway

Wokha, March 29 (EMN): The first edition of the Land Owners’ Union (LOU) Doyang sports meet kicked-started at Doyang in Wokha on Tuesday, with around 30 teams participating in the football and volleyball (men and women) category.
Speaking during the inauguration of the meet, Hachio Patton, senior PS to Dy. CM Y Patton called forward leaders of LOU to be refined and urged to protect the welfare and rights of the land affected area. He told the leaders not to have a selfish mindset and called for a cordial relationship between LOU and NEEPCO for progress and development.
Meanwhile, he urged the players participating in the sports meet to have a vision and target to see themselves performing at higher platforms.
Calling upon the youths to give due interest in sports and games, he said Nagaland government may open recruitment in sports disciplines in the Home department, and urged them to qualify for their profession.
Yanpothung Lotha, president of Lotha Youth Hoho speaking on the occasion, said that Doyang is not only meant for generating electricity but has life beneath the waters, and called to protect the aquatic life and avoid contaminating the water body.
Stating that Doyang is one of the tourist hotspots, he urged the people to maintain a good environment that may attract more visitors.
He also called the players to display good sportsmanship.
