Dimapur, March 11 (EMN): Highlighting the students’ grievances of eleven villages under Satoi range in Zunheboto district and the Government High School (GHS) at Satoi in particular, the Satoi Range GBs’ Association (SRGBA) has appealed to the School Education department to immediately deploy adequate teachers and address other genuine requirements.

In a representation to the director of School Education, the association has apprised him of their physical inspection to all the primary schools and GHS Satoi in April 2021. The inspection was undertaken to get the ground report of infrastructure development and for improvement of students enrolment after receiving complaint from the student community in the region.

The representation appended jointly by its chairman, Kaito Zhimomi, and the general secretary, Kakheto Aye, stated that there was no Science teacher since 2017 and shortage of graduate teachers at GHS, Satoi. It added that the school has been functioning without a headmaster since 2019.

The representation also stated that GHS at Satoi has only four Arts graduate teacher including one Maths teacher and three under graduate teacher (UGT), without assistant/ headmaster.

It stated that due to shortage of graduate teachers and without Science teacher at GHS Satoi, the students are not taking admission thereby resulting in poor student enrolment. Besides, it stated that there was not even a single government staff quarters for the teachers and staff for accommodation.

In view of the above facts, the association appealed the department of School Education to immediately look into the genuine grievances to enable the students avail admission in Class 10 and further requested not to downgrade the high school.
