Nagaland Police registers 68 cases, arrests 78 persons during operation against banned substances
Dimapur, Feb. 28 (EMN): The Nagaland police had seized a huge amount of banned substances and arms during its operation from January 2 to February 2 this year; registered 68 cases and arrested 78 persons in this connection.
The state police launched the month-long state-wide operation to combat the menace of widespread availability and usage of synthetic drugs, psychotropic substances and Indian Made Foreign Liquor (IMFL), considering its effects on the youth, informed an update from DIPR.
During the operation, 27.911 bottles of IMFL were seized (43 cases registered, 39 persons arrested); and 26 arms, 21 ammunition and 13 explosives seized (9 cases, 17 persons arrested). It added that 22 persons were arrested and 16 cases registered in connection with seizure of drugs and banned substances.
The update went on to say that the “Nagaland police has extended the operation for another month, i.e., February 2022, and zealously taking measures to crack down on the anti-social elements and activities”.
The state also ‘appealed to the general public to jointly combat the menace by providing any information related to sale/distribution/transport of any form of narcotics/drugs/IMPL/Arms, etc., to the nearest police station or Nagaland Police officers whose CUG phone numbers are available in the ‘Call Your Cop’ mobile App’.
