Kohima, Feb 23 (EMN): A three-day long training programme for master trainers on early childhood care and education (ECCE) and foundational literacy and numeracy (FLN) got underway at Siemat hall, SCERT, on Wednesday.
The training is being organised by Samagra Shiksha Nagaland (SSN), in collaboration with SCERT, Nagaland.
Addressing the inaugural function, Razouseyi Vese, additional director of School Education, reminded the participants that learning is a continuous process for everyone and urged the master trainers on ECCE and FLN to continue updating themselves on various themes to impart training to the teachers. Stating that complacency could hamper one’s progress in academic profession, he advised them to be a model for the teachers in the state.
While reminding the participants that they would be required to train the younger generation, who are smart and updated with many new things, he advised them to be well prepared.
He challenged the participants to introspect on why the government schools are not faring well. He also stressed on the need to focus on four core skills in the education sector namely skill of reading, skill of writing, skill of listening and skill of speaking.
He further asked the master trainers to motivate the teachers to improve the performance of the government schools.
The deputy mission director of Samagra Shiksha Nagaland Kelhikha Kenye, who also chaired the introductory session, gave a brief background on the purpose of conducting the training programme. He informed the participants that they would be required to conduct training for the teachers as resource persons on ECCE and FLN.
The participants comprised trainers of teachers from EBRC, Anganwadi trainers from Social and Welfare department, faculty from SCERT and DIET and Samagra Shiksha.
