Imphal, Feb. 16 (EMN): A delegation of Congress party led by AICC senior observer (Manipur Election) Jairam Ramesh and AICC in-charge, Manipur, Bhakta Charan Das visited the Chief Election Officer (CEO) Manipur in connection with alleged 14-poll related violence that took place in six constituencies and submitted a memorandum demanding the election authority to ensure free, fair and peaceful election in the state.

After submitting the memorandum to CEO Manipur, AICC leader Jairam Ramesh alleged that BJP is indulging in poll violence because they are confident of losing the Manipur elections.

Claiming that the state administration is not doing its best to ensure free and peaceful elections, he said that is why Congress party has submitted the memorandum and requested the CEO Manipur to intervene and use his constitutional authority to ensure a free and fair election in the State.

AICC leader Bhakta Charan Das also said that democracy must not be tempered with and law and order must be maintained properly in the state. He also said that those who are involved in the poll violence must be booked under law.

MPCC Working President Meghachandra also said that several instances of poll violence have already occurred in the state and that it needed to be stopped.
