World Pulse Day: SASRD organises training programme at Sirhima
Dimapur, Feb. 11 (EMN): The School of agricultural sciences and rural development (SASRD), Medziphema campus on Thursday organised a one day farmers training and input distribution programme at Sirhima village to mark the celebration of “World Pulse Day”.
According to a press release, the programme’s introductory session was chaired by Kavi Suni, scientist at AICRP while Professor L Tongpang Longkumer, HOD Agronomy delivered the introductory remark in which he highlighted the objective and significance of cultivating pulse crops.
A short speech was delivered by Sirhima village council chairman Onthang Haokip and vote of thanks was pronounced by Hoeneichong Singson.
During the technical session, a presentation was made by Professor L Tongpang Longkumer on the importance of pulses while Kavi Suni talked about package and practices of major pulses cultivation.
Altogether, 60 farmers attended the training programme and they were also presented with small tools and farm implements.
