Dimapur, Feb. 15 (EMN): Longleng district administration and the district level centre for women Mahila Shakti Kandra (MSK), in collaboration with Longleng district legal service authority (LDLSA), conducted an orientation-cum-training programme on Pocso and PCPNDT Act for Anganwadi and Asha workers at VDB hall in Longleng town on February 15.
Speaking on the occasion, CDPO Longleng Longlang Luckpan has appreciated MSK-DLCW for organising such programmes and encouraged the participants to avail the opportunity to learn and educate others as well, stated a DIPR report.
Resource person and LDLSA project assistant, Monyei Phom, spoke on POCSO Act, wherein she elaborated on different types of offences committed towards children below 12 years of age, which are punishable under section 6 of the Pocso Act. She also highlighted the Juvenile Justice (Care and Protection of Children) Act, (JJ Act) 2015.
She further encouraged the gathering to be more practical in approach relating to the offences under the prescribed law.
Another resource person, Panglang Phom, spoke on pre-conception and pre-natal diagnostic techniques (regulation and prevention of misuse) act, 1994 and PCPNDT amendment act, 2002. He encouraged the gathering to be aware of such acts and also to approach LDLSA for necessary services.
It was followed with an interactive session on women centric schemes, women issues, health and hygiene.
A total of 164 Asha and Anganwadi workers attended the programme.
