Dimapur, Feb. 14 (EMN):
Former Member of Parliament , C Apok Jamir on Monday said that culture and heritage are present in every aspect of one’s life and people have to learn a lot from it, especially the young generation. He said that one can learn a lot from what has been depicted in the pictures itself.

He stated this during theinauguration of a photography exhibition titled “A walk into a fading heritage” by Donindra Yengkhom at Niathu Resort in Chumoukedima on Monday.

Jamir said that through photography, one can observe the positive aspects of life and it gives a sense of identity for the future prospect.

Yengkhom, during the exhibition programme, said that it has been 10 years since he started photography and documentary works in order to capture the rich old cultural heritage, particularly of the Naga tribes of Nagaland and Northeast region.

Therefore, he established a firm called ‘Fading Heritage’ a not-for-profit media production house and through his work, he wanted to highlight the importance of cultural heritage, which is ‘fast fading away in this modern life style’.

Yengkhom informed that he is documenting the Naga cultural heritage through digital still photography and short documentary films with an aim and objective to preserve, protect and promote the diverse tangible and intangible cultural heritage of Nagaland in particular, and North East in general.

The event was a crowdfunding promotional photography exhibition in aid of a coffee-table photo-book titled “Welcome to Nagaland”.

The coffee-table photo-book will be depicting the rich old cultural heritage of all the Naga tribes of Nagaland and will represent the living heritage of the present day Naga tribe.
