VDB secretaries, VCC told to educate villagers about handicrafts for self-reliance
Dimapur, Feb. 5 (EMN): H Khehovi Yeputhomi, Advisor for Tourism, Art and Culture, govt. of Nagaland said that VDB secretaries and VCC should educate and encourage the villagers about handicrafts to develop self-reliance, adding that villagers should be enlightened about cultural values and how to preserve/promote traditional attires and folktales and lore as well.
He was speaking at the 24th Suruhuto/Asuto area VDB and VCC conference as special guest at Achikuchu village on Feb. 3, an update informed.
Yeputhomi lauded the SAVDB Association for always initiating annual conference to interact and discuss various topics related to development of the village.
Speaking about the formation of the Suruhuto/Asuto VDB Association, the advisor recalled how as a block development officer (BDO) in 1998, he envisioned the village VDB secretaries and VCC under Suruhuto to hold such conferences and share their village activities, ideas, grievances and achievements to implement policies through each others’ experiences.
“I am contented to see you keeping the pace sincerely” he said.
He concluded that villagers should not fully depend on government schemes and funds for their livelihood because the government policies, programmes and village fund allocation keeps changing.
