Tsütuonuomia Khel emerges overall champion of KVSA Meet

Kohima, Jan. 22 (EMN): Tsütuonuomia (T) Khel emerged as overall champion of the week-long 65th Kohima Village Sports Association (KVSA) meet, which concluded at Khuochiezie local ground in Kohima on Saturday night.
It was organised by Kohima Village Youth Organisation (KVYO).
Winning the meet, T Khel garnered a total of 36 medals (18 gold, 14 silver and four bronze).
Lhisemia (L) Khel secured the second position with 14 gold, 14 silver and 6 bronze. Pfuchatsumia (P) Khel with 13 gold, 13 silver and 8 bronze and Dapfhütsumia (D) Khel with 4 gold, 8 silver and 7 bronze secured the third and fourth position respectively.
Day-six of the meet featured Naga style wrestling for men and cross-country for both men and women. Menuosetuo Yiese claimed the wrestling championship title after defeating Dzieselatuo Keretsü with a point deficit in the wrestling.
After both wrestlers won a bout each, Yiese overpowered Keretsü in the final and emerged champion. Keviser Dzüvichü bagged the third position, while Khrietsonyü Whuorie secured the fourth.
In men’s cross-country, Thejakhrielie Mechülho from P Khel bagged the first position, Kevise Belho of T Khel and Lhouvisalie Mere of P Khel won the second and third position respectively.
In women’s category, Khriezelhounuo Keyho from P Khel emerged as the winner along with Ruokuosanuo Kire of D Khel and Dziesekuonuo Linyü from L Khel as the second and third winners respectively.
Neiketoulie Belho of T Khel was declared as the individual champion for men with 4 gold, while Khriezelhounuo Keyho from P Khel bagged the individual champion for women with 3 gold.
The best athletic coach award was conferred to Ngusanyü Phewhuo.
Altogether, about 600 sportspersons consisting of 150 each from the four khels of Kohima village competed in different disciplines.
Helievio Solo, chairman of Kohima village council handed over the prizes to the winners, while Kekhrieyie Belho, Kikrukhrülie Kesiezie, Keneisedenuo Yiese and Ledilhounuo Sekhose belted out the KVSA theme composed by Vilhoukho-ü Solo and Dziesekhrienuo Keretsü presented “Kewhizou” (also composed by Solo).
Neingusalie Khruomo, convenor of KVSA meet core committee, informed Eastern Mirror that about INR 11,00,000 had been given as the prize money.
