Uphold integrity and unity of Chakhesang tribe — Kronu

Zapami, Jan. 10 (EMN): Minister for Planning and Coordination, Land Revenue and Parliamentary Affairs, Neiba Kronu on Monday called upon the Chakhesang people to uphold the integrity and unity of the Chakhesang tribe.
He was addressing the Chakhesang Public Organisation (CPO) 40th General Session cum 8th Chakhesang Day at Zapami village under Phek district.
He also called for strengthening the hard working culture of the forefathers for a progressive society, and told the people to maintain the legacy.
Pointing out the major road projects that are ongoing in Phek district and other projects that are in the pipeline like the inland waterways among others, he exuded hope that with the improvement of connectivity it would boost the economy. He also told the people to invest in things that could generate income.
He also called upon the people to continue to abide by the resolutions and stands of the CPO on forest and biodiversity conservation to maintain ecological balance.
He urged the people to focus on “Fruit trees for wealth,” to boost the rural economy while he added that there is a huge scope for Agro and Eco-Tourism in the district. Towards this, he told the people not to be ashamed to work, and pointed out how the people in the western world are flourishing.
Further, he implored upon the Chakhesang people to invest and take up entrepreneurship to create employment opportunities and ‘not be job seekers, rather job givers’.
Member of Legislative Assembly (MLA), Kuzholuzo Nienu, in his speech said the Chakhesang people should awaken and encourage one another in the fear of God and create unity among the people.
He urged the people to take up business and entrepreneurship while making a comparison with the state of Mizoram, and urged the youngsters to venture into the same.
In his speech, MLA Dr. Chotisuh Sazo stressed on the need to preserve the culture and traditional heritage while also pointing out the need to give attention to education and socio-economic development.
He asserted the need to relook into schools in the villages with the communitisation system that is in place, while he also pointed out the need to adapt work culture among the people and not be lazy.
Sazo expounded on the rich bio-diversity of the people, adding the need for preservation of flora and fauna. With Phek being tagged as ‘Kiwi district,’ he also urged the people to take up commercial farming that would be good for the environment as well as to uplift the economy.
Stating the high demand for meat in the state, he also called upon the people to take up livestock farming for self-sufficiency and supply to other parts of the district.
Meanwhile, MLA Kezhienyi Khalo expressed concern about the mushrooming of organisations and suggested that efforts need to be made to rectify the same while also calling upon the Chakhesang community to strive for excellence through hard work.
Earlier, the presidential address was delivered by CPO President, Mikha Kenye wherein he highlighted the various initiatives taken during its tenure and acknowledged the effort of everyone. He sought cooperation of the people for the developmental activities that are under progress in its jurisdiction.
Further, he called upon the people to prevent global warming by planting more trees and abiding by the CPO’s resolutions for the protection of flora and fauna to maintain ecological balance.
He also stressed on the need to maintain peace and cordial relations in its jurisdiction and the neighbouring villages and states, and called upon the leaders of the community to be agents for peace making.
While, welcome address was delivered by Tewelhi Khutso, VCC Zapami village and a folk tune was presented by Thürütsüswü Village and Kuzha Cultural Society, Zapami.
Resolution adopted
On the occasion, Resolution Committee member Wepe Mekrisuh read out the adopted resolutions.
In resolution, the CPO “vehemently condemned the treacherous attitude of the Govt. of India for misjudged extension of AFSPA (1958) in Nagaland and termed it as ‘Disturb Area’ for another period of 6 (six) months w.e.f. 30th December, 2021.”
The CPO resolved to uphold unity of the Nagas and appealed to all the section of the Nagas to shun enmity and violence amongst the tribes.
To give prior emphasis on Human Resource Development in the field of education, the CPO has resolved to conduct a seminar in coordination with CSU, frontal organisations including all VECs for the improvement of the educational system in the village.
The CPO unanimously resolved to re-affirm the resolution adopted during its 38th CPO General Session on January 10, 2020 at Phek town and CPO Resolution of Chakhesang Tribe 75th Anniversary celebration on January 10, 2021 at Phek town.
New team of CPO for the tenure 2022-2025
Meanwhile, a new team of Chakhesang Public Organisation (CPO) team for the tenure 2022-2025 was announced by Hiisazii Epao, Convenor of the Search Committee. Installation of the new team and act of blessing was done by Rev. Khrotso Mero, executive secretary Chakhesang Baptist Churches Council (CBCC).
The new team of CPO would be led by Vezuhu Keyho as president, Kelelo Mero as General Secretary along with other office bearers.
