NSCN/GPRN mourns, reaffirms its stand for peace; Sumi Hoho condemns incident
Dimapur, Oct. 18 (EMN): The NSCN/GPRN has mourned the death of Additional Secretary, Central Secretariat, Atoka Kinimi in an alleged encounter with another Naga faction on Sunday night.
It stated that Kinimi, who joined national service in 2007, dedicated his life for the cause of the Naga people and never faltered in his determination and selflessly served the nation till his last breath.
Stating that his supreme sacrifice will be recorded in the annals of Naga history, the group conveyed its heartfelt condolences to the kith and kin of the deceased and prayed that
God gives them strength to overcome the loss. May God grant eternal solace to the departed soul, it added.
In another press statement, the group accused the GPRN/NSCN of continuing “fratricidal acts among Naga brethren” and questioned the killing of Kinimi at a juncture when Nagas are yearning for peace.
While stating that it welcomes constructive suggestions from the Naga National Political Groups for strengthening the Naga political talks, the NSCN/GPRN said that ‘it is a no-brainer to even slightly imagine that fratricidal acts among us will benefit the Naga political talks in any way’.
“NSCN/GPRN decided to give peace a chance, heading to the call of Nagas to end bloodshed, Therefore, NSCN/GPRN leaves it to the wisdom of the Naga people to introspect profoundly on the events that have transpired,” read the statement.
The group once again reaffirmed its stand for peace, saying that “Naga unity and Nagas’ aspirations towards an inclusive and amicable political solution are our ideology and guiding principle”.
Sumi Hoho condemns clash
The Sumi Hoho (SH) condemned the factional clash on October 17, reportedly killing one NSCN (K) cadre.
Through press release, it also condemned ‘functionaries of different Naga political groups (NPGs) who keep defecting from one group to the other, thereby creating unnecessary misunderstandings among NPGs’.
‘When every section of the Nagas is eagerly yearning and anticipating for peaceful solution to the vexed Indo-Naga political issue at the earliest possible time, cropping up of such kind of situation is uncalled for and condemnable,’ it read.
SH also urged all the NPGs to ‘refrain from creating situations that is detrimental to the peace process and against the desires and wishes of the people’.
