NPF leaders in Manipur join BJP

Former president of Tangkhul Naga Long (TNL) Hopinson A Shimray along with many Naga People’s Front (NPF) workers have joined the ruling Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) during a formal function at the newly inaugurated BJP office popularly known as ‘Thambal Sahnglen’ in Imphal on Saturday.

Informing this through his facebook post, the state chief minister N Biren Singh on Saturday wrote, “Giving a major boost to the party, Shri Hopinson A Shimray, former President of Tangkhul Naga Long joined the BJP along with hundreds of NPF workers at the Thambal Shanglen today.”

Stating that former TNL president Shimray’s joining will give an impetus to strengthen the party further, especially in Phungyar constituency, Biren Singh said, ‘Hopinson A Shimray and others joining the BJP has reaffirmed people’s trust in  Prime Minister Narendra Modi’s politics of development’.

While welcoming the newly enroled members of the party, Chief Minister Biren Singh highlighted the development activities that were taken up in the last four-and-half years in Kamjong and Ukhrul districts. He said that with the coming of the BJP-led government in the state, many developments in the field of medical, road infrastructures, police among others have been taken up in the Phungyar Assembly Constituency.
