Tsütuonuomia students organise annual literary day

Kohima, Aug. 28 (EMN): Tsütuonuomia Students’ Union (TSU) organised its annual edition of ‘literary day’ for the school students from Tsütuonuomia, one of the four clans of Kohima village, on Saturday.

Various competitions such as painting and sketching, solo, quiz, spelling bee, essay (English and Tenyidie) for high school students and debate for higher secondary school students were held at T Khel indoor stadium and Kidzü-u Ba Mechü ki in the village.

Speaking during the opening ceremony, Dzieseneituo Whuorie, senior geologist from Geological Survey of India, emphasised on different competitions which are vital for children’s personality development and future advantages. Encouraging the young participants to take part in literary competitions, he advised them to give their best so that the experience they get might help them in future endeavours.

After the competitions, prizes including citations and cash awards were handed over to the winners by Ruokuoneituo Phewhuo, president of Kohima Village Youth Organisation (KVYO), and Vituotsolie Victor Solo, president of TSU.

In his speech, Phewhuo congratulated the winners and advised them to be prepared for higher level of competitions. He also encouraged those participants, who failed to make it through different competitions, not to give up but persist to compete better in the coming editions.

He further reminded all concerned to do away with complacency but continue to strictly follow all necessary Covid appropriate behaviours as the state is still reeling under the pandemic.

Neizovolie Nigel Solo, president of Kohima Village Students’ Union (KVSU), informed this newspaper that the annual programme of TSU was not conducted last year owing to the outbreak of Covid-19 pandemic.

It was learnt that such literary competitions in the jurisdiction of other three clans of Kohima village have not been organised yet. However, he said that it was upto to the decision of the students’ unions of other clans whether or not to organise such events as the situation is not favourable.

Solo also informed how winners of those literary competitions from the four clans were selected to compete in the village level literary competition ‘Spero Meliora.’ He added that such events were organised for the welfare of the students from the village.

Meanwhile in the quiz competition, Khriezer Belho and Mhaphruosezo Solo defeated Neipedezo Zatsu and Neikethozo Suohu in the final. The quiz competition included History and Geography; Maths and Science; General Knowledge; Visual and buzzer rounds conducted by the quiz master Vikuonyü Solo.

In the debate competition, Keneivonuo Solo secured the first position, while Neibeinuo Whuorie and Zasatuonuo Suohu jointly shared the second spot and Kikrukhrienuo Belho won the third position.

In the solo competition, Avibou Belho secured the first position, while Dzieselenuo Solo and Vikeyienuo Solo secured the second and third positions respectively.

In the sketching competition (junior category), Ruovisie-ü Zatsu secured the first position, while Ruopfüvizo Belho secured the second position.

In the painting competition (junior category), Kemesanuo Belho secured the first position and Vivi Zatsu won the second position.

In the sketching and painting competition (sub-junior category), Medovituo Whuorie secured the first position, while Ketoukhrienuo Solo and Mhalelhoulie Solo secured the second and third positions respectively.

In the spelling bee competition, Khriezer Belho secured the first position, while Thejasenuo Belho and Rüdilhoulie Belho secured the second and third positions respectively.

In English essay writing competition, Neikethozo Suohu secured the first position, while Keduoneinuo Whuorie and Neisevinuo Solo secured the second and third position respectively.

In Tenyidie essay writing competition, Kevikielie Solo secured the first position, while Neipedezo Zatsu and Merütuo Suohu secured the second and third positions respectively.
