Manipur’s State Information Commissioner passes away

Imphal, Aug. 9 (EMN): The state information commissioner of Manipur, Dr. Soibam Ibocha Singh (retired IPS) passed away on Sunday due to Covid-19. He was 63 and is survived by his wife, two sons and two daughters.

A resident of Soibam Leikai in Imphal East district, Dr. Soibam Ibocha Singh was sworn in as the state information commissioner by Governor of Manipur, Dr. Najma Heptullah on October 22, 2018.

During his career in the Police department, he served as SP of Imphal West, Thoubal, Bishenpur, Churachandpur and Senapati districts. He had a PhD in Community Policing and was also a recipient of the President’s Police Medal for meritorious service.
