Microsoft’s 36-year-old MS Paint gets visual overhaul in Windows 11
Dimapur, August 3 (EMN): Microsoft has finally given its 36-year-old MS Paint app a much needed visual upgrade to match Windows 11’s design language.
First reported by Windows Latest, Microsoft is working on new designs for almost all stock apps that will come with Windows 11 including Clock, Voice Recorder, Calculator, Office, Notepad, Photos and the aforementioned MS Paint.
The news about Microsoft giving MS Paint a visual overhaul came about after the company quietly posted the new look Paint and Photos app on the popular stock image website, Unsplash.com.
Microsoft is ditching the traditional ribbon menu for a Fluent header as seen on the new file explorer app on Windows 11. The revamped MS Paint will have simple icons for basic tasks like copy/paste, brush, pencil and more on its header. The design language of the new MS Paint matches Windows 11’s style with rounded corners and WinUI controls.
Apart from a new look MS Paint, Microsoft is also revamping the stock Photos app with a new interface, improvements, and better performance. The Photos app will reportedly show the editing tools menu floating above the image, similar to most photo editing apps on Android and iOS platforms.
